TORONTO, ON – Canadians hoping to catch some laughs and enjoyment that typically come during breaks in game play during the Super Bowl, often referred to as commercials, will be disappointed.
Bell Media gets to experience the benefits of their Supreme Court of Canada victory from late last year with broadcast rights to the Super Bowl this weekend.
The ruling from the Supreme Court in 2019 allows Bell Media to air Canadian commercials and not the much anticipated and enjoyable US commercials.
“We achieved substantial synergy by simultaneously substituting the US ads for Canadian ads,” Bell Media President Randy Lennox explained in a statement.
“This also had the added effect of simultaneously substituting our viewers attention and enthusiasm for lucrative advertising revenue.”
It was reported that Bell Media received upwards of 4 complaints from concerned Canadian viewers during previously years of the Super Bowl in which US commercials aired on US feeds.
“Anxiety levels of Bell customers increase to unacceptable levels when a Ford Canada ad isn’t shown 6 times in 90 minutes and I just won’t stand for that,” continued Lennox. “Our solution is a resounding and undisputed win-win-win."
BCE Inc. also weighed in on the matter by downplaying concerns about customers who could simsub Bell for Telus or Rogers.
