TORONTO, ON – Restaurant Brands International Inc. (RBI) is making another major change in Tim Horton’s annual Roll Up the Rim content.

The coffee chain announced on Tuesday that customers will have a 1-in-500 chance of winning their very own Tim Horton’s franchise location.

“We’re offering up the chance for a number of lucky Canadian coffee lovers to take over the franchise of one of our disgruntled owners,” said José Cil, Chief Executive Officer of Restaurant Brands International Inc.

RBI is attempting to avoid future litigation by more franchise groups by relying on an overly broad interpretation of a clause in the franchise agreement which capitalizes on the new digital portion of the annual contest.

When asked about the seemingly high odds of winning a coffee franchise as compared to other high-ticket items, Mr. Cil responded, “we have a surprisingly large number of disgruntled franchise owners across the great white north.”
