SANTA CLARITA, CA – Carnival Corporation & plc is embracing the new reality that face cruise lines across the world.

The parent company of Princess Cruises will be rolling out a series of themed cruises focusing on novel and communicable diseases.

“The cruise line industry is facing a multitude of challenges right now and we’re working to put Carnival in the best possible position embracing this new reality,”

said Arnold W. Donald, President and Chief Executive Officer of Carnival Corporation & plc.

Mr. Donald said the idea for the disease themed cruises built off the concept of “chickenpox parties” that were popular in the early 1990s. Parents would intentionally expose their children to chickenpox in order for the children to build up immunity to the disease.

“Look, chances are that in the current environment when you get on a cruise ship, you’ll contract some sort of disease,” continued Mr. Donald. “With this new themed cruise, fun won’t be the only thing that’s contagious.”

Carnival Corporation expects that the ‘virulent serenity’ theme will test positive with future guests.
