PALO ALTO, CA – As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the globe, biotech entrepreneurs continue to drive innovation in diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines.
Investment continues to pour into novel innovations for the rapid detection of COVID-19.
Theranot, a new Silicon Valley start-up, claims they have developed a rapid diagnostic tool which only requires a small drop of blood.
“This is going to revolutionize the diagnostic industry,” explained Theranot CEO Michael Dobson. “One day we’ll see our diagnostic machines in every office, clinic and pharmacy.”
Elizabeth Holmes is one of the early backers behind the company’s device claiming to have a “wholesome understanding of the technology.”
The technology, approximately the size of a toaster, is said to need just a few drops of blood and provide almost instant results.
Walgreens announced a partnership with Theranot to roll out the rapid diagnostic machine despite insiders saying they have not vetted the technology.
Mr. Dobson attempted to explain the technology by saying, "a chemical reaction occurs and generates a signal from the chemical interaction with the sample, which is translated into a result, which is then reviewed by certified laboratory personnel..."
Theranot has already raised close to $350 million, due in part to the many trusted names the company successfully recruited to the board.
