WATERLOO, ON – An analyst at a Canadian capital markets firm was recently reprimanded after an accusation of ‘deadnaming’ was thrown upon the organization.
“I made an honest mistake,” said the analyst in a statement. “I didn’t realize how inconsiderate it was to refer to the business by a name we called it for nearly 30 years and for that I’m deeply sorry.”
BlackBerry changed its name from Research in Motion as part of a rebrand exercise in early 2013.
Word of the analyst’s alleged intolerance quickly spread on social media. With with upwards of 13 anonymous people spread across the world displaying outrage, the firm had no choice but take action against the analyst.
