MENLO PARK, CA – In an effort to put to rest an endless stream of backlash from financial regulators around the world, Facebook is reportedly set to announce they will change the name of their cryptocurrency from “Libra” to “Cancer.”

“Given the amount of negative publicity we were receiving, we thought a name change to something less divisive and stigmatized would be in order,” said Facebook spokesperson John Pinette in a statement.

Facebook is following in the footsteps of many other large organizations that change the name of a product line, or entire company, in an effort to distance itself from poor decisions or performance.

Pinette continued “I think we can all agree that the problems that regulators were pointing out about Libra stem from the name itself.”
